Stockings were hung.........................

Well, we don't have a fireplace here so had to hang them somewhere else. But the decorating is done for the most part and I have to say it turned out better than I thought it would. This little house has a very small living room so it was a bit tedious to find a place for everything. The tree I have is humungous and it takes up a lot of space but I just love it. We'll just have to walk around it, lol! The little angel on top has been in our family for a long, long time. It looks just like my daughter, Miranda, when she was a baby with her short curly strawberry blonde hair. That's why I bought it and it has adorned the top of our tree for the last 20 years or so. The Christmas Village sits atop the entertainment center as Old World St. Nick stands watch. All the other little Santas are hanging out on the shelves. The nativity scene on the coffee table and the stockings are hung in the door way. This little house has some archways in each of the two door ways that lead in to the family room. They have lights in the them and are really cool but they have no shades or covers so I just put the lighted garlands up there with some hooks and hung the stockings on either side. Looks pretty cool, I thought. The dining room has the table all set with the poinsettia dishes and red/gold centerpiece. The buffet has the red candle sticks with a lighted garland on it and some of the Christmas coffee cups that I have received over the years. My favorites are the two closest to the center with the red striped handles. Just love those cups. The china hutch has my small Christmoose collection and the Santa is Coming sign and beside it is another Old World Santa that I found at a garage sale a few years ago for $4. Great find, all he needed was some hot glue. I just love Christmas! I hope you all have fun decking your halls and hanging your stockings. May you have the very best of Christmases ever!! Hugs, ~Jody

Our Uninvited Guest

Do you see the red cardinal in the picture? I was helping my daughter and her boyfriend move yesterday and we had the front door propped open and in flew this beautiful red cardinal. He originally perched himself on the mirror wall and then tried to get through each "mirror". When that didn't work he flew over to grandma and grandpa's picture and sat up there a minute. He looked so "devine" up there that I decided to get a picture but by the time I grabbed the camera and got it turned on, he had flown down into the craft room. I wanted to get a close up shot of him but of course that was out of the question. By the time I got the camera on him, everybody else was watching him too and it must have scared the shit out of him because he took a dump on the back door and a file folder got it too. He started flying vigorously back and forth across the back of the house and finally flew back out the front door. Nothing like a little excitement on moving day, lol!!!

Thanksgiving Card

Good Morning Peeps, here's a card that I made for a little craft fair that I attended a couple of weeks ago. It turned out so cute. The little wheat stalk was made from raffia. I gave one to my sister and she liked it so well, we re-created it with some of her card making supplies and she used it as her presentation at a card club she belongs to. I was over there helping her with her cancer surgery she had done on her nose. Man, they really roughed her up. Besides having this "flap" on her forhead, she also has two black eyes. They have started to turn yellow now but you can sure tell the trauma her face has been through. They will do the remainder of the plastic surgery in a couple of weeks and they say that within a year, you won't even be able to tell what they did. She has really been a trooper though. She even ventured out to card club last Friday. Her friend Tiffany came and got her (she can't drive yet) and brought her back home. We have all told her that we don't care what she looks like, WE ALL STILL LOVE HER AND ALWAYS WILL!!!!! I will be going back over for Thanksgiving next Tuesday. We are going to put out a traditional Thanksgiving feast. I have the Rhoades frozen bread rolls already. Those are hard to find down here. Picked up some canned red tart cherries for the cherry pie. Not sure if I will bake the pie before I go or just do it over there. Still need to get the yams. Hope ya'll have a very nice Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving Die Cuts

Hello Everyone, nice of you to drop by. Have been busy building the remainder of the Thanksgiving Die Cuts. They make such a nice Thanksgiving page layout. Can hardly wait for the day to arrive. Besides that yummy turkey, love, love that turkey breast meat and all the goodies that go along with it, all the pictures we can take and do our 2010 Thanksgiving scrapbooking layouts with. I think I even have a couple of "thanksgiving of old" layouts to still do for my daughters album. These will be perfect for them as well. Anyway, here's a look at each one, there is the cornucopia, the pilgrim's hat, the turkey and the words "giving thanks". In the drop down menu you can choose which one you'd like or you can get the whole package. The shipping of $1.25 applies to each single order. Shipping for the full set will be $3.00. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or leave me a message.

Cornucopia Die Cut

Get yours before it's too late. Check out this "Cornucopia" die cut I made. It is so perfect for those upcoming Thanksgiving page layouts. They are brown, orange and yellow but with some beautiful embellishments thrown in to accent the fruits and 'plenty'. The photo doesn't even do it justice. I tried it on a couple different papers here that I had in my stash just to show you the versatility but I'll have to see what delicious Thanksgiving scrapbooking paper I can find to go with it. It measures approx. 11"x 5" at it's highest points so it fits perfectly on a 12x12 layout. I can hardly wait for the big day now and will take lots of pictures just so I can use this beautiful die cut on my pages. You can order one for your Thanksgiving pages right from here for just $9 plus $1 shipping. Just click the "buy now" button below and I will send one out to you the same day your payment hits. (Green leaves and papers not included)

MoJo Monday #163

Good Morning Peeps. Just a little MoJo Monday going on this morning. I made this card for a dear friend of mine who is having a birthday tomorrow. The card is already on it's way to Wyoming. It is made from the Emma 6x6 paper pack from Making Memories. I just loved these colors but could never find the actual 12x12 paper pack that goes with it to make scrapbook pages with so I have used it for cards. Used my Tim Holtz rosette die for the flower, just love that thing, then added a brad and a purple rhinestone on top. Hope she likes it. Have a great day!!! Hugs, ~Jody

Waltzingmouse Stamps "Tag, You're It" Challenge

Good evening peeps. Have been playing in my craft studio all day today and watching football, of course. Would you believe, some one took my Denver Broncos and replaced them with the worst team I think I've ever seen (that was a pitiful game!!!) Anyway, back to what I was talking about. Waltzingmouse Stamps have this cute little challenge on their blog called "tag, you're it". I was needing to make some anyway so that got me inspired to see what I could come up with. I liked the results so I decided to take it a bit further and decorate something to put the tag on. It's one of those generic crystal light containers from Wal-mart. I've been saving them for a special project. The tag is actually a Tim Holtz tag and I just cut it with the Labels #14 Nesties (the biggest one) I cut the next size down for a mask and used it to go around the tag with red ink. I gold embossed a couple of CTMH stamps on it and ran my gold paint pen around the edges. The rosette is Tim Holtz also and I highlighted the edges with the same gold pen and placed a pearl on the top. The ribbons and gold garland were from my stash. I thought they turned out pretty cute. Let me know what you think.

Happy Halloween 2010

Good Morning bloggers, hope you are having a great relaxing Sunday! I've been decorating. It's looking a bit like Halloween 'round here! Every year I pick up a new attraction, AFTER Halloween, for a song, basically, and put it away for next year. I would never pay those ridiculous prices they charge for stuff BEFORE Halloween. Anyway, my new attraction this year, I actually got at a garage sale sometime between Nov. 1 2009 and now, don't remember when or where but I think I only paid $3 for it. Pretty cute, don't ya think!! Here are some the others that I have collected over the years. Wilma, the Witch, Mr. Fiber-Optic Pumpkin and Count Dracula, Pumpkin Jr. watching the clock tower, the howling wiggling orange ghost and Witchy-Poo's humble abode. Have to tell you a funny story about the orange ghost. When I took it out of the box this morning, I turned it on to see if it still worked. It has a motion detector in it and so when it detects motion, of course, it goes off. It starts howling and wiggling for like a minute and then it shuts off. So I was walking to the door with it and it went off again just as I opened the front door. There was a man out walking his dog and they were just passing my house when this happened. You should have seen the looks on their faces. It was priceless and could not have been planned any better. Just love that thing. It's been in the family for years and years. Hope you'll have a great Sunday and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! I'm off to finish more coffins before the Broncos game starts at 1. Hugs, ~Jody

The Newest Halloween Rage!

Check out this coffin treat box!!! I found this template on Martha Stewart.com and a few other blogs as well. Seems it's all the rage this halloween. I decided to give it a whirl. HOW C+U+T+E is that! I think I will make one for each of my tea ladies for the Halloween tea party. It only took about an hour to put together. I embossed the top of it before I glued the flaps together with a CTMH stamp from a couple of Halloweens ago, it's called Creepy Cobwebs (D1319). The inside is just some old halloween paper I had in my stash, you could use anything. I thought it turned out so cute.

MoJo Monday #157

Good afternoon peeps. Hope you are having a great Saturday. I had a great day. Went with my friend Sandra to the Garden Festival in Plant City today. They had so many really cool and unique plants. I bought a mexican petunia (bluebell). I'd have put a photo up of it but the only bloom it had fell off in the truck on the way home so it doesn't look like much right now. After it gets a few more blooms I'll take a picture and put it up. Then we went to some of the antique shops in downtown Plant City. Found a really cute dress for cheap and it fit to a tea, lol, for my tea parties!! Then we stopped by a friends place and had a cold beer and visited a bit. It was a nice relaxing day and we had a great time. I finished my card for MoJo Monday after I got home. It turned out pretty good. I used the "unforgettable" paper pack from CTMH. I have had this paper pack for a long time and never used it so decided to break it out today. I do like it alot. Made a rosette (by hand) then ordered the Tim Holtz rosette die. We'll see if it works as good as he says it does, lol. I also used the box pleat on the border piece (thanks Annette for the inspiration). I did a Martha Stewart border on it first then pleated it in accordance to the border valleys and mountains. Hope you like it! Hugs, ~Jody

PDCC #47

How ironic is that? I woke up this morning with my mind already going mach speed. I had the new Play Date Cafe challenge colors in mind but also had just finished up an order for one of my message boards from a gal at work. AND THE COLORS, you guessed it, were almost identical to what the new PDCC colors were for this week, (my true red is more hot pink but the flowers in the photo look more pink to me anyway). So.................I decided to use it as my entry for the challenge. This is a magnetic message board made out of a cookie sheet. The little dragonflys have magnets on the back of them and you can post messages to your loved ones or yourself, i.e. dr. appt Friday, 2:30 p.m. if your mind runs too quickly to remember all those little details, like mine does. I sell these at my etsy shop, and one of the gals at work saw them and ordered one for her sister. You can check out my etsy shop by clicking on the left side bar, Unique Unicorn Designs. I may try my hand at the challenge with a card (and true red) and see what I come up with. I really should be scrapping in my daughter's album but this seems to be way more fun. Hope you have a great Friday everyone! Hugs, ~Jody

Got it, Kinda!

Well, I got it on there but it's not right yet. Had it on the side with the profile and other stuff but it was too big and only half of it showed. Will have to have my daughter help me. But at least it's there, lol, twice now!

Honorable Mention

First of all, I would like to thank the academy!!!!!! lol No, seriously, this is the first time I have been recognized, I think is the word. And I'm TOTALLY EXCITED about it, YAY!!!!! How Fun! Now if I could just figure out how to put that little thingy they call a badge on my blog, I'd really be thrilled. I have placed it here for the time being. Have consulted a couple of gurus so we'll see how soon it will appear in the right spot. Thank you everyone for all your lovely comments. And yes, I thanked my sister for talking me into "playing at the PDCC". She actually didn't have a clue what I was talking about, guess she hadn't read my blog for a couple of days. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a grrrrrrreat evening!

Play Date Cafe Entry

My sister talked me in to doing "The Play Date Cafe" challenge today. When I got home from my tea party I tried it and it did turn out pretty good. The colors you were to use were black and white with a "splash" of color, and the color could be pink, copper OR gold. I made this card with scraps from the scrap bin, I think it's quite pretty. Let me know what you think!

Newest Creation

Good Morning peeps, here is what I have been working on for a couple of weeks now. I wanted a new frilly dress for my next tea party and I couldn't find one in the stores. Not that I looked REAL hard, a shopper I am not. I decided to make one. Went to the fabric store and found this cute little number, not realizing that it had no buttons or buttonholes to be made, no zipper, no snaps, no hems, etc. It is a wrap around of sorts and so that's all that was needed, two sashes to tie with, yeah! The more I worked with it the better I liked it, easy-peasy!! Of course, I'd be making the one that has purple in it, lol! No really, the pink one doesn't have any sleeves and let's face it, I am getting old lady arms, so have to have some sort of sleeve. The b/w one had a regular longer sleeve, which I thought was too much for the airy feel of the dress so I went with the cap sleeve, perfect! Oh and BTW, have you seen the price of patterns lately??? OMG, I paid almost as much for the pattern as I did for the fabric. Will watch that in the future. Coupons, ladies, coupons!!! It said they were on sale but the original price was over $15 so the sale was not that much better. If I plan on doing any more sewing, I will definitely not be buying a pattern without a half off coupon or something!!! The fabric I found was a medium brown color with pink flowers and blue leaves. Sounds kinda weird hugh, but it was really pretty fabric. And it was on sale at Hancock's, works for me. It only took me two weekends to get it done. The hardest part, if you could call it that, was sewing the seam binding on all sides, which made for no hems. I did the light pink seam binding, really, really cute and so easy to do. Anyway, here's the dress. I'll take more pictures at the tea party so you will actually be able to see it on me. Hope you have a great Sunday! Oh yea and GO BRONCOS!!! Wouldn't you know that one of their very few TV appearances would be during my dang tea party, crap!!! Actually, I don't really know that they are going to show that game, but they are playing the Jaguars in Jacksonville, (wish I had tickets to that game) which are a FL team so it would only stand to reason that they would show that in FL, right?? Especially since they have blacked out the Bucs game today. From what I understand you can't GIVE AWAY Bucs tickets these days, lol. Maybe they will have a TV on at the tea room, lol!!! Hugs,
