Mother's Day Challenge

Well, alrighty then, it's May already. April must have flown by because I missed it, I think. Have been busy living life, I guess. I have taken a few photos along the way that I will share with you at a later date. Just noticed that they are having a Mother's Day challenge over at the Sisterhood (The Sisterhood of Crafters). I made this card for my mother. Didn't know I would be putting it in a challenge or I may have taken more time to get a better photo. Was telling my sister about it and she asked me if I took a picture of it and I said no. She said well you should so I can see it. So I did, here it is. A couple of quick photos before I left for work yesterday morning! It's in the mail now on it's way to Wyoming.

April already!

Good Morning bloggers, can you believe it's April already! Like they say, time flys when you're having fun!! Still putting the finishing touches on the new place but it's coming around nicely. I really like it. SO MUCH better than that last place. I'll post some pics. when I get the chance later. I really like the revamp of my scrapbooking room. My 'table' turned out nicely, even better than planned. More on that later. Still have a few more pictures to put up about the Treasure Hunt but today I am going to the Fine Arts Festival in Tarpon Springs with my friend Sandra. Have a couple of errands to run on my way over there...forgot about some pictures that I had made at the Wal-Mart over there and I need to drop off my passport at Scraporium so I can be entered in the drawing. Wouldn't that be a fun thing-to win the drawing. First prize is $900 worth of gift certificates, $100 to each of the participating stores. Yes, that would DEFINITELY be fun! The new job is going well although the supervisor is a puttz. There has to be one in every crowd, I tell ya!!! Well, I need to get some things done around here before I take off so have a great Saturday! Hugs, ~Jody

Treasure Hunt (con't)

Well, as they say, better late than never. I've finally had a chance to upload the rest of the photos from the Treasure Hunt and get them put up here. My sister and I hit all nine stores last weekend and a tea party to boot! We had a great time. My first stop was in my last post. Charmin arrived about 10:30 Saturday morning and we loaded up and took off. We hit Scraps of Art first, since it's right down the street from my house, love that!!! I didn't even know it was there until I looked at the map of directions to each place. Very cool, about 5 minutes from my house. Will be a regular there! These ladies were really dressed up for the occasion as well. There store was all decorated and they had these cute painting cut-outs for you to get your picture taken in, lol!! Our next stop was Whim So Doodle in St. Petersburg. We were both really excited about this one, they carry a large selection of Tim Holtz stuff. We are both heavily in to Tim Holtz these days. I picked up a few TH must haves and Charmin added to her collection of Copic Markers. More to come so stay tuned. I'm going to see if I can find a lesson on how to make these photos stay where I put them. It all looks good on the preview but as soon as you hit 'publish post' it goes all wacky AND IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY! uuuGGHHH!

Treasure Hunt 2011

We have started this year's Treasure Hunt, well, I have anyway. My little sister dupped me last night. She was supposed to be here by the time I got off work but couldn't make it, so I went on the first leg of our journey alone. First stop was K2 Scrapbook Studio in Sarasota. A little over an hours drive south of here and a cute little shop. The owners made it really fun. They were dressed up to play the part and were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the visit there! These pictures were taken from my cell phone (not bad for a basic $30 a month cell phone from Wally World). I forgot my camera so the lady there (the one in the black) suggested I use my cell phone. Have never really used it for picture taking but I will again. This shot was taken outside, of course, but the wind was blowing pretty good so it's a bit blurry. And here's me at the counter when we were trying to figure out if I could email these photos from my phone. Guess what??? It worked!!! Day Two coming up. Supposedly Charmin is up and getting ready to come over here, about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Then we will embark on the rest of our journey. I'll share some more pictures tonight or tomorrow, depending on how tired we are tonight, lol! Happy Trails!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Good Morning Ladies, hope your Valentine's Day has started off well. I can finally put up the pictures of the valentines present I sent to my sister and the one to my daughter. I didn't want to put them up yet as they hadn't received them yet. I gave my daughter hers yesterday and I sent my little sister's last Thursday so she should be getting it today. Any way, here's a shot of what I made each of them for Valentine's Day. I found these little metal trays at the dollar store for, you guessed it, $1. I added some TH aged mahogany distress crackle paint to the outside edge and then decorated up the inside. The letter 'C' I added some tattered rose distress crackle paint to and then touched the edges of it with vintage photo distress ink while it was still wet. The effect was pretty cool, I thought! The hangy thing on the left is a wooden tag that was distressed as well and then I added a TH valentine stamped piece of paper to it and a little hangy heart from the dollar store. The other hangy thing is a skeleton key from my collection and heart locket, and some beads from my collection. The big heart in the center is a spellbinder die with embroidery floss wrapped around it and a little wooden heart in the center. I added a few other embellishments until it looked like it was full and then I quit. I just love how it turned out. Here's a shot of the one I did for my daughter, Miranda. They each have a hanger on the back I added by hammering a nail through the metal and attaching it with a brad so they can hang on the wall. I know my daughter liked hers, sure hope my sister likes hers. Hope you all have a splendid Valentine's Day. I'm going to pig out on the chocolate covered cherries I bought for myself yesterday. They are in the freezer just calling my name, lol. I will leave you with a shot of the inside of the Valentine's day card I made for the tea ladies. The one that I did for the challenge last week. Scroll down to see the outside with the vintage little girl . Hugs, ~Jody

Treasure Hunting!

Have you made your reservations for the Treasure Hunt yet? Time is drawing near! Went to a class last night to make a "Pirate Necklace" to wear on the hunt. It turned out pretty cute, don't ya think? The class was held in Lakeland which is approximately 48.5 miles from my job in St. Petersburg. I had to cross old Tampa Bay and by that I mean a 7 mile bridge over lotz and lotz of water, through Tampa during 5 o'clock rush hour traffic, over to I-4 and then turn south on the Polk Parkway. Good thing I left a bit early. It took me an hour and 35 minutes to go those 48.5 miles, not to mention the half a tank of gas I used up. Sure glad I like that necklace, it's going to be around for a long, LONG time. Here's a few more shots of it. The Treasure Hunt is the weekend of March 12-13 and we will all board a bus to go check out all the scrapbooking shops around the Tampa Bay area. It will be a two day excursion coming back at night to sleep in our own beds, well most of us anyway. My sister Charmin will be coming over for the festivites so she will have to sleep at my place Saturday night. It should be great fun!

CR84FN14

Decided to try my hand at the CR84FN Color Challenge this week. For the February Valentine's Tea Party this month we were requested to bring an old valentine for each person. I may have gone a little over board with mine but what the heck!! Here's the colors that we are supposed to use for the challenge. Here's the card that I created for my challenge I had a bunch of left over soft pink (CTMH Blush) from some Christmas cards that I made a couple of years ago so this was perfect to try and use it up. The remainder of the colors, bright pink and brown I had in my stash. The little girl picture was a free download from Heartwarming Vintage. I decorated it up with some MS gold glitter glue and a border stamp from CTMH (Heartfelt Christmas #C1378). Of course, the coloring is a bit off because I always have to take my photographs at night because I have 'work' duty during the week, lol! I opted to make them a different size this time. They actually fit a legal size envelope. I believe they call them #10. Anyway, they were fun to put together and still have a few more to go so I'd better get busy. Hugs, ~Jody

New Old Shelf

I was looking on craig's list for a shelf for my daughter's kitchen and I found this. It was $20. An oak bookcase for $20, I'll take it. It was in really good condition and it's pretty good sized. It would never work for my daughter's kitchen because of the scroll work on it. She prefers a more abstract modern look. Me, I'm all about old fashioned, traditional stuff. Thought it would work great in my craft room. Was going to buy another one of those white shelving units (the ribbon holder ones from Michael's, ya know) but then I found this. I took it home and sanded it down! And painted it up! White! Semi-gloss Bright White! Take a look at my new shelf now!!!!!!!!! I don't have it all loaded up yet but have been trying out a few things on it. Found some baskets at Michael's for 40% off, $2 a piece and I found 5 of them that matched somewhat. I just need to take the time to put everything on it. The one corner where there is a gap in the wood I have since caulked and repainted. That corner bothered me for some reason so I fixed it, one would never know, lol! And it's twice the size of the one at Michael's and 1/4 the price, LOVE IT!!! I plan on buying a sheet of plywood and making a table top for it to sit on and I will attach it with L-brackets. I'll paint it the same color and probably a couple coats of polyurethane so I will have a nice working surface. YEAH!

MoJo Monday #172

Decided to try my hand at the MoJo Monday again. Needed a couple of cards for the month of January so here I am. Besides, it's a contest week, Yeah! This was all made with scraps from my scrapbin including the rosette. Actually the rosette was a left over from Halloween so I just added another layer to it and voila'! The button was a leftover from a 'tag' from the 12 tags of christmas. I used the inside of the button on the tag and had this clear part left over. I punched a small circle and it fit right inside so I added a brad and there you have it. The sentiment was from a Close to my Heart stamp set and I cut the edge to look like a ribbon banner type. I thought it turned out pretty cute, hope you like it!!!

Christmas Vacation

Well Hello bloggers. I finally made it back. It was a great time. We had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I trust you all did too?? I spent about 10 days over at my sister's in Rockledge and we made the 12 Tags of Christmas inspired by Tim Holtz. We made ours pennant style which was her friend, Annette's idea so that they could be strung together and hung up for a Christmas decoration. The 'tags' that Tim used are not really functional, they are very cool but they seem to just get thrown in a pile afterwards and we didn't want to see that happen to all our hard work, thus the pennants!!! It took us about 8 days to make all 12 tags. A couple of them were quite labor intensive and of course, we had to make a daily run to Michael's for anything that we were missing. I think the only day we didn't go shopping for something was Christmas day because everything was closed that day, lol!!! So, without further ado, here are my 12 Tags of Christmas Tag #1 - The Little House Tag #2 - Happy Holidays Birdie Tag #3 - Bird in Tree Tag #4 - Santa Wish Tag #5 - Santa Dec 25 Tag #6 - Reindeer Tag #7 - Santa over Town Tag #8 - Poinsettia Tag #9 - Peace on Earth Tag #10 - Snowman Tag #11 - Tree/Sleigh Tag #12 - Joy Ornament Can hardly wait til next year!!!
